Southern Motion Expansion New Albany

The City of New Albany requested CDBG funding to assist with improvements to a publicly owned building and truck loading yard. The City of New Albany needed to rehabilitate an existing industrial building to allow the company, Southern Motion, Inc., to expand and create additional job opportunities for local area residents.

The company committed to creating 125 net new jobs that will benefit low to moderate income persons in north Mississippi. This new employment opportunities will also help to decrease the high unemployment rate and increase the family incomes in Union County.

The project has been environmentally cleared and construction is currently underway. The company has already created 59 new jobs to date. The projected completion date is 11/24/2022.
