The City of Laurel was in desperate need of making water system improvements at water treatment plants 2 and 3, constructed in the 1970s. These two plants combined provide treatment for approximately 75% of the city’s water supply. The existing ground storage tanks at both plants needed to be rehabilitated. In addition to the ground storage tank problems, the aerators at both plants needed to be replaced.

The result of the improvements to the water system allows the two plants to stay up to date and ensures the city continues to provide safe drinking water to the Laurel service area. Number of households served are 6,816 benefitting 9,500 low to moderate income persons.

This project was successfully completed on 6/29/2021.
